Krydor’s history

Krydor is a village in the Rural Municipality of Redberry No. 435. Its first settlers were Ukrainian families from Sokal, who arrived in the area in 1905.

The village takes its name from two of those early settlers, Petro Krysak and Teodor Lucyk, whose names were joined together: KRYsak and teoDOR. Petro Krysak also served as Krydor's first postmaster, holding the post from September 1, 1911, to July 7, 1913.

Krydor incorporated as a village on August 25, 1914. Two notable people are tied to the community: Mike Kostiuk, who played offensive line in the National Football League, and Stephen Worobetz, who became the 13th Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
